In recent years, Thailand government has been vigorously promoting 'Kitchen of the World' plan. Drawing on the strengths of a bunch of industries like agriculture, finance and catering, Thailand government aims to globalize Thai cuisines and bring about new opportunities for its agricultural production, processing and export.

As early as in 1979, Thailand has introduced Regulations on Food Safety Production and, based on different food categories, formulated corresponding safety standards which request inspections on different processes, including food production, processing, packaging, registration, logistics, selling and advertising. Thailand government shall close down and impose fines on any manufacturers and enterprises that violate relevant regulations, and revoke their licenses, even sue them if necessary. Meanwhile, the Thailand Food and Drug Administration also set up a hotline for any immediate reports onfood safety problems so as to safeguard consumers' rights.

Thailand government's emphasis on food safety has also prompted its agricultural producers to strictly monitor the quality of their products. Take the Chia Tai Group, the most famous food enterprise in Thailand, for example, it adopts a fully enclosed production system, conducts inspections on each type of food ingredients and makes every production process controllable via the production control room. Each truck for ingredient delivery is equipped with GPS and disinfected at its arrival or before its departure to prevent pollution from vehicle flow. Chia Tai Group manages and controlsthe whole production so as to guarantee the safety and traceability of their products.

In addition to the from-start-to-end control over and the increasing S&T content within agricultural production, recent years have also witnessed Thailand doubling its efforts on food R&D and improving its deep processing capacity. Thailand is also trying to turn itself into the 'Kitchen of the World' and provide more choices on dining table by quickly distributing agricultural products to supermarkets, community stores and even the whole world.

For many years, Thailand government has attached a great importance to agricultural cooperation with China. The two countries plan to set up a direct selling channel for agricultural products and let consumers enjoy fresh and safe foods as soon as possible.
