Nerello Mascalese is a unique wine, the outcome of a land rich in ashes, minerals and sand, typical of the Volcano Etna that, with its 3,330 m asl, especially affects the climate that presents considerable temperature variations between day and night.

Organoleptic traits of Nerello Mascalase “in terms of purity” generally include the ruby red hue with light garnet streaks, the intense scent of red berries, subtle floral nuances and a spicy touch, besides the mild flavour of vanilla and tobacco with persistent liquorice, the dry, warm, persistent and harmonious tannin flavour and full-bodied texture.

The wine presents as more mature than what taste and scent seem to infer. This is the effect of ageing in barrels.

The alcohol content is in the range of 13%-14% vol. Serve at a temperature of 18°-20°C.

Nerello Mascalese is served in special glasses for full-bodied red wine. It blends perfectly with savoury first courses, cured pork meats, grilled meat and roasts, and with seasoned cheese.
