As the Chinese demand for imported food continues to expand, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile and other Latin American countries have seized this huge business opportunity and increased their food exports to become the new competitors in this emerging industry. Peru is the world's biggest exporter of super-food such as asparagus, quinoa and marca. Brazilian beef exports rose 15% month-on-month and 14% year-on-year respectively. China accounts for about 17.56% of Chile's wine exports. It’s expected that Latin America's net trade volume in agricultural products will reach $60 billion, three times what it was in 2000.
In order to help Latin American enterprises better understand the Chinese market, Food2China and Guangdong Imported Food Association (IFA) jointly held the "South American Food-Sample Tasting & Business Matching Event" in Guangzhou on March 28. Martin ALVEZ, Consul-General of URUGUAY in Guangzhou, Ivan Silva, Consul of Peru in Guangzhou, Paul Penaherrera Commercial Counsellor of Ecuador in Guangzhou and Nadia Rosales, Commercial Specialist of Ecuador Consulate General in Guangzhou were invited to the event.

Latin American food is well known for its natural, pollution-free nature. What’s more, its Mediterranean climate further guarantees its quality. Through the Latin American Food Samples Tasting Event, Latin American food companies can better display and promote imported goods from Latin America, so that more consumers can taste Latin American food and share their impression of Latin American food. The event also received high praise from consular officers, overseas exhibitors and buyers. Food2China will continue to work hard in the future, to introduce more and better overseas imported food into China, and to bring better experience for consumers.
Special thanks to Guangdong Foodstuffs Imp. & Exp. Group Co., Ltd., vice president unit of IFA, for providing the place of the event.
